So, whether you're a hardcore seasoned rider, or a complete beginner, this area is a must-visit for all the thrill-seekers, nature lovers, and really just anyone looking to explore this vast beautiful region in a unique way.
Parry Sound: Your Gateway to Adventure
Parry Sound is a great starting point. Right on beautiful Georgian Bay, this is a hub for outdoor adventures, combining the services of a larger city with the charm of a small town and the excitement of untamed wilderness. Known for its legal ATV access throughout the town, Parry Sound allows riders to explore trails by day and then ride directly to dinner or local amenities by ATV. This unique feature makes it an ideal base for your off-roading adventure.
Some of our favourites things to check out here; The Island Queen offers cruises amongst Georgian Bay’s 30,000 islands, and the marina there is a short walk to downtown and offers a bunch of great dining options (Trestle Brewing Company was one of our favourites). There are coffee shops, book stores, and really just too many great things to list very close to Parry Sound’s stunning waterfront. You can even check out the Bobby Orr Museum or book a flight tour.
The Park to Park Trail System: A Journey Through Ontario’s Wilderness
The Park to Park trail system is the backbone of ATV exploration in this region. Stretching over 230 kilometres, this trail network connects Algonquin Park in the east to Killbear Provincial Park in the west. There are some great little gems as far as the towns and attractions scattered throughout the Great Canadian Wilderness, adding real depth to the adventure. Orrville and Sprucedale along the Seguin Trail are charming small towns that serve as perfect pit stops along your ATV journey. Make sure to check out notable stops like the Orrville General Store (also known as the Duck Lake Store), Edgington Station in Orrville, and Kirks Gas and Food Truck in Sprucedale.
Orrville's quaint general store is the ultimate one-stop shop. The owner and the regulars there greeted me enthusiastically and they clearly take great pride in the place. Check out the taxidermy, and call ahead if you need something special as the owner promised they can get you “almost anything”. I might need to test that next time!

Take your adventures through Sundridge, or down to Kearney along the Algonquin West ATV Club trails, which also connects to Lake of Bays ATV Club and the Baxter/Severn ATV Trail Riders, opening up the possibilities for multi-day tours and extending your adventures.

And, as of summer 2024 they now have a bunch of their own ATV’s and Side by Sides available for rent, so you don’t even have to own your own machine. Just show up!

For those seeking a touch of luxury, Grand Tappattoo Resort in Parry Sound offers upscale accommodations in a stunning lakeside setting. Modern amenities, a private beach, and easy access to the trails make it a perfect blend of comfort and convenience.
This is a great stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner, as well. The stunning dining room overlooks the lake, and it doesn’t hurt that they serve some incredible food.
Terrawoods on Muskoka Shores
If you prefer a more secluded retreat, Terrawoods on Muskoka Shores is your answer. Nestled among the trees and overlooking a tranquil lake, Terrawoods offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle. Being so close to Parry Sound with direct access to the trails and a variety of accommodation options, the Parry Sound KOA is a great choice. They have campsites, trailer sites, and private cabins, this spot gives you that camp feel but with a bit of amenity and hospitality attached to it.
